Radio Operator Flight Data Systems Upgrade

Tern Systems have successfully upgraded the Radio Operator Flight Data Systems in Gannet Communication Center in Gufunes, Iceland, and in Shannon Aeradio in Ballygirreen, Ireland. The systems now run on new hardware and operating system. In addition, the RO-FDS now has the ability to connect and interact with the newly acquired VCCS system from Rohde & Schwarz.

The RO-FDS has been in operation in Gannet and Shannon Aeradio since 2005. The systems are interconnected via a dedicated link which allows radio operators in the centers to cooperate in joint operation. The RO-FDS is used to aid radio operators in relaying messages to pilots from air traffic controllers and vice versa. The RO-FDS receives, sends, processes and displays messages and maintains a flight database.
