ADS and CPDLC, Phase II, operational in the Icelandic Airspace

Tern Systems has finalized a Datalink workstation and gateway for the Icelandic CAA. Pilots can now log on to the BIRD centre and use the CPDLC downlink messages defined in the NAT Phase II. This new system has been integrated into the FDPS system so the Controllers have a direct access to the Datalink messages. The pilots get an automatic answer that their request has been received and the response will be via voice.

The flights are now forwarded automatically to the next centres that also use ADS for the pilots convenience that do not have to log on again. Pilots can also ask for frequency changes through the CPDLC.
Additionally Tern Systems calculates various statistical information from the data collected.
